Weekend at Rainbow Lake - Friday

Sterling Highway north of Homer

Denny headed out with the motorhome last night to find a campsite on the Swanson River Road out of Sterling.  He found a spot at Rainbow Lake campground, about sixteen miles from the junction of the Swanson River Road with the Sterling Highway and set up camp.  I followed this afternoon in the car, after settling the cats and securing the house.

It takes about an hour and a half to get to the junction and another half-hour on the occasionally rutted gravel road, meandering over the post-glacial terrain, to get to the campground.
