New Haircut
Since we moved to the Southwest, I have been gradually cutting my hair shorter. Between age, sun and daily immersions in the hot tub, the environment has taken its toll on my hair. I need to kep it long enough to tie up off my neck but I honestly look horrible in short hair so...
I always have wanted to try a longish shag and i found instructions on-line on how to do it yourself, so I gave it a try. I like it but want to go shorter so we will see how it goes.

Finally, you mentioned wistfully once how all the cats we have had in our lives, will be forgotten once we too are gone, and the line you used was so poignant, alas I can't track it down at the moment. But, checking in at Cat-of-the Day regularly (http://catoftheday.com/), I realized that this may be a way to keep their memories alive, as one person puts it: "I want to honor her short life, she touched our hearts." I thought of doing the same, but this will involve a lot of writing - we are on rescue no. 26 right now. Maybe a retirement project LOL!
My blog is at http://catwhisperer.blogspot.ca/ We had snow right up to last week - today is the first day without boots! And the sun is out, which helps "melancholiacs" like me. Bye for now, Anna in Quebec
I have been living too much on Facebook and ignoring my blogs, but I hope to migrate most of my photos to my blogs in the near future. I have mostly been just posting pictures lately, as a way to keep my presence here, and I need to go back and add captions to give context. That's my summer project.
Leaving Alaska was a deep decision. the biggest stimuli was that my parents are now in their nineties. They relocated to Mesa, Arizona from Fairbanks, Alaska in 2011--they had been splitting their time between the two places for about a decade prior to that. They are doing okay but my husband and I realized after our road trip with them in April of 2014 that they were essentially propping each other up and if one were to fail, they would both need help. Dennis and I both retired in 2008 and we really hadn't been doing much of anything with our lives since, so we had no pressing reason keeping us in Alaska and we knew eventually the phone call would come that would require our presence in Arizona. It is better to jump than to be pushed, so we made a plan and tried to work out how to make it happen.
Our primary worry is that one of the cats would escape, so we were particularly vigilant about that and carried a cat trap with us in case the worst happened. The only cats allowed outside the carriers for any length of time were those who demonstrated a cetain calmness, like Lumpy. The shy ones were okay with staying in their dens until we got to where we were going.
I will definitely check out the four white paws blog. Thanks for the link!
I also have a lot to catch up with on your beautiful blogs.
