Homeward Bound - Day 1

The view from our first involuntary stop, just before
Burro Creek Hill on Highway 93 about 7:30 am.

Highway 93 northbound approaching Boulder City

Broke down with a view of Lake Mead

Texts from the road, 1042 am:

So has your "Alaska or Bust" begun?

50 miles south of Vegas. An interesting day.  Left about 4 this morning.

How are all the passengers holding up so far?

They are past the crying stage.

Kitty Joe Studies the Las Vegas skyline as we are broke down on the freeway downtown.

Timmie watches the traffic sweep past us on the 515.

Once we got underway again, we limped ten or twelve miles east of town, stopping at a cross-road short of Apex Summit.

Texts from the road, 5:50 pm:

Camping beside the freeway just outside of Las Vegas. The motorhome tried its best     to leave us stranded by the roadside, but we persevered.

We spent our first night on the road at this bleak pull-off, with the lights of Las Vegas a slash of light behind the western hills.  The night baked at 100 degrees and we all had a long, miserable night.
