A Green Day
Another showery, cool day that played out in shades of green.
The fireweed is just beginning to shoot upward. By next month, most of these plants will be five feet tall.
The overcast sky casts a subdued light that really intensifies the color of the clover.
I have been wanting to try a recipe for spruce-tip jelly I found on-line last fall, so while the new growth was still soft, I picked a few cups to boil up.
The flavor is slightly mild and slightly citrus-y from the lemon juice added during cooking.
I confess to adding a few drops of food color to get an appropriately spruce-like color. I don't know how successful the jelly will turn out but it looks nice.
