A Gray, Wet Day

I captured this view from our window about four-thirty this afternoon. The sun had already set behind the veil of clouds; they reflected its colors only faintly. I watched the subtle play of light and cloud until a rift in the sky cover revaled the waxing moon.

This is the seaon of short, shadowy days. The sun only clears the ridgeline to our south for a few hours. The obscured kight and overcast give the whole day a disjointed feeling--time is elastic. Two in the afternoon feels like mid-morning and the dark evening hours stretch on forever.
